Innovative Work

For my innovative work I wanted to create something that would hone the fourfold language skills of children in a way they would enjoy it. One difference I could notice in the kids of the present generation and those of ours is that, during our times we were more knowledgeable about the famous authors whose works we would learn through the course of schooling. By the end of our schooling we were aware of the prolific writers, their significant works, style of writing, themes etc our knowledge base in literature was quite enormous. But nowadays children hardly remember any writers or the major themes they have learnt. Learning is solely done from the examination point of view and somehow the quest for being knowledgeable is waning off.

Here I have created a Learning Management System that encompasses all the significant aspects that students should be remembering after learning each unit of their coursebook (Grade 9). I have included grammatical aspects in the LMS that are related to the themes that they have learnt so that they don't get the feeling that they are learning something alien. To ensure that the students learn the correct speech utterances, I have added my recorded voice rendition of each of the grammatical usages. At the end of the LMS I have included an assessment form through Google forms that holistically evaluate their earnings from the LMS.

Reading and Reflection - Semester 3

Every semester we are to read a text and prepare a report on it. Usually it was submitted as a handwritten work. This semester I had taken the book Teaching English as a Second Language, by C. Paul Verghese. As there was a paradigm shift in our mode of having classes and submitting works, this semester we were asked to prepare the reading and reflection as a flipbook. The books were created using the platform Fliphtml5. There were instances when the flipbook created was not accessible at a later point. Therefore, I have added a video version of the text as well to refer to, just in case the flip document doesn't work.
