Ease Talk

Our college organized a session with Dr. Amar Fettle, Consultant Pediatrician at Health Services Kerala who is the current Nodal Officer of Public Health Emergency. It was a very engaging and effective session that addressed all our queries.

Mr. Fettle's session was indeed very student friendly as within the first few minutes he freed us from all our inhibitions. Then on he detailed us on the first occurrence of corona in our state and the varied steps taken by the government to contain the situation.

Doctor informed us on a lot of home medications that are effective and efficient in increasing immunity. He also briefed us on the indispensable importance of having healthy eating habits and regular exercise during this period. He answered several doubts raised by our classmates and concluded the session by reminding us on the significance of psychological support system.

More than a mere lecturing, Mr. Varghese literally engaged us while creating content on several online platforms. The session was undoubtedly the best we have participated so far.

Importance of being Knowledgeable!

"Once you learn to read, you will be forever free"

In commemoration of the contributions made by P.N Panicker in encouraging reading habits in Kerala, the country celebrates reading day on June 19th. Our college conducts several competitions every year to remind the budding teachers on their responsibility in enhancing reading skills of themselves as well as the future generation. This year even though the pandemic forbade us from getting together, we decided to do the same online.

We had a Google Meet for reading day celebrations and it was a great experience. Two of our classmates MaryJaya and Meera were the anchors of the days activities. The chief guest for the day was P Bhaskaran Nair, Professor of ELT, Pondicherry University (retd.). He has guided several Ph.D publications and authored coursebooks in English. As of now he works as a free lance teacher educator.

In addition, our college also conducted news reading competitions in English and Malayalam and and a quiz.

Whole to Part!

In the course of these 5 months of lock down, we; the student teachers got to participate in a number of online quizzes to keep our skills sharp and updated. All the quizzes were quite comprehensive but primarily it adhered to specific areas of study.

The Department of Physical Sciences of Marthoma Teachers' Training College, Ranni recently organized a national level quiz on Teaching Aptitude. It was one of a kind, as it incorporated all the psychological principles involved in teaching learning scenario to practical aspects of teaching. The questions made us ponder on our rationale before taking any decisions related to student-teacher interaction and most importantly classroom transaction.

The quiz was not time bound, but the awarding of certificates was restricted to only those who scored 60% and above.
